Synopsis From Back Of Book:
Rebellious teen Demon Trapper Riley Blackthorne just needs a chance to prove herself—and that’s what Lucifer is counting on.
It’s the year 2018, and with human society seriously disrupted by the economic upheavals of the previous decade, Lucifer has increased the number of demons in all major cities. Fortunately, humans are protected by trappers, who work to keep homes and streets safe from the things that go bump in the night.
Riley has always dreamed of following in her father’s demon-trapper footsteps. But when tragedy strikes and a top level demon murders her dad, Riley finds herself in for a much more dangerous future than she ever could have imagined.
Review: OH MY GOD! This book is one of the best books in this paranormal genre I have read in some time! It is so well written that I couldn’t stop reading. This resulted in nothing getting done that night and I stayed up till the wee hours of the morning, ON A SCHOOL NIGHT, for I couldn’t stop I was hooked.
First of all can we talk about the cover, please? It is so pretty and is what drew me to the book at first. It also has a mat finish on the final cover that is not on the ARC which is a welcome surprise.
Second the plot is something that is made of pure genius! It had me intrigued and captivated which lately has been hard for a book to do to me. Just when you thought the book was going one way BAM, it heads in the opposite direction. There is also an interesting love triangle sorta going on here. The way that this part of the book was written left me wanting more from the budding romances. I also liked the aspect of it being in the future. It is not far-fetched to believe the setting of this book and being able to propel yourself into this world. I thought I was in this world at points and I was right alongside Riley dodging demons and awkward moments.
Third the characters were so well developed and had a depth that I haven’t seen in some time. Each character had layers and layers of dimension and personality, they weren’t flat at all. I could picture myself as being friends with most of these characters for I could connect with them. Riley is easily one of my favorite heroines of all time I can say now. She went through so much in this book, but was able to still function and find joy in life. Beck was very complicated and I could not for the life of me figure out what made him tick till the end of the book when I was able to piece it all together. He was there for Riley when she didn’t want anybody to be.
Overall I HIGHLY like to the moon and back recommend this book. It is going to be one of the IT books this year in my opinion. So go sprint to a local bookstore and buy your very own copy. You will not be disappointed I promise!
