Blogger Book Battle 2011 Round 2 Decision

 As you all know I have had the wonderful opportunity of being a judge in the 2011 book battle. My experience was way different as a round two judge which if you read my round one post you will soon understand. 

My partner was Jessica from Nisaba Be Praised, which is such a cool blog you all should check it out! Jessica and I both read  Whale Talk by: Chris Crutcher and Threads and Flames by: Esther Friesner. Individually we decided which was our favorite then we got together and chatted.

We both decided on Threads and Flames.

We decided on Threads and Flames for it had the most emotional intensity and a story we thought needed to be told. I actually cried during the novel and as we know that doesn't happen often. I wish it was required that everyone read this book! Whale Talk was a great concept that was done incredibly well but I kept thinking it was missing something.

Jessica adds: It's a bit unfortunate that Erika and I have similar tastes in books, really, because it meant that Whale Talk was an underdog from the start. Besides identifying more with Threads and Flames, however, I felt that Whale Talk and its author, Chris Crutcher, is a bit more well known. Threads and Flames needs more attention than it's received, and that's why we've chosen it to move on.

So Threads and Flames moves on and will battle another book. You should check The Shady Glade periodicaly to see if the bracket is up. Also to see all the books that have battled in the first series. 

I will be watching the rest of the battle closely to see who wins and see if my bracket matches up to the final one!!
