Torn by: Erica O'Rourke (Review)

Title: Torn (Torn Trilogy #1)
Author: Erica O’Rourke
Publisher: Kensington
Date of Release: July 2011
Number of Pages: 298
Synopsis From Back Cover:

Everyone has secrets.

Even best friends.

Swirling black descends like ravens, large enough to block the glow of the streetlights. A dull roar starts like a train on the 'L', a far-away rumbling that grows louder as it pulls closer, until it's directly overhead and you feel it in your chest, except this doesn't pass you by. Verity, white-faced and eyes blazing, shouts through the din, "Run, Mo!"

Mo Fitzgerald knows about secrets. But when she witnesses her best friend's murder, she discovers Verity was hiding things she never could have guessed. To find the answers she needs and the vengeance she craves, Mo—quiet, ordinary, unmagical Mo—will have to enter a world of raw magic and shifting alliances. And she'll have to choose between two very different, equally dangerous guys—protective, duty-bound Colin and brash, mysterious Luc. One wants to save her, one wants to claim her. Which would you choose?

Review: Torn is the best book I have all year! I was sucked in from the very first page and then spit out by the last. I love the cover so much. Mo looks amazing and her eyes are perfect, and the purple is amazing. I love  this line as well “Two guys. Two Worlds. Two destinies… Once Choice.”.  Erica had so much happening in this book and wove a brilliant story.

Mo is a very relate-able character. She has no magic abilities like those around her, but yet she doesn’t need them. Mo is a very strong character and I loved that. Colin and Luc are foils of each other basically. If I had to pick between Luc and Colin, I wouldn’t be able to either. Mo makes this aspect very believable, and she is sincere with both about how much she is torn.

Torn never has a dull moment. It is fast paced and will keep you wanting more and more. There is so much action, that you will be biting your nails scared for Mo. Just when I thought things would slow down, they just picked up again. Torn takes the magical aspect and brings new original ideas to the table.

Torn is a thrilling ride with strong characters. Erica O’Rorke’s writing shines in Torn. If you were stranded on an island and could only bring one thing, I would bring Torn. Everyone needs to go read Torn now. I promise you will not regret it!

  1. Oooh, I'll have to get a copy of this! It sounds great and it sounds like the love triangle is believable/enjoyable--unlike so many out there, haha. Thanks for the review!
