Across The Universe by: Beth Revis (Review)

Title: Across The Universe

Summary From Goodreads:

Seventeen-year-old Amy joins her parents as frozen cargo aboard the vast spaceship Godspeed and expects to awaken on a new planet, three hundred years in the future. Never could she have known that her frozen slumber would come to an end fifty years too soon and that she would be thrust into the brave new world of a spaceship that lives by its own rules.

Amy quickly realizes that her awakening was no mere computer malfunction. Someone - one of the few thousand inhabitants of the spaceship - tried to kill her. And if Amy doesn't do something soon, her parents will be next.

Now, Amy must race to unlock Godspeed's hidden secrets. But out of her list of murder suspects, there's only one who matters: Elder, the future leader of the ship and the love she could never have seen coming.

Review: I can safely say that this book was like nothing I have read in my life. The concept of this book and the technology explained was incredible and left my head spinning. The reversible cover is sweet! I loved the one geared towards the girls it is so pretty and cool. The other one with the ;layout of the ship was incredibly helpful when envisioning the ship. Beth Revis ‘s writing is pure genius and I don’t know what she will do next!

Alright so the story is told from two perspectives: Amy and Elder. The way it was done was so fluid that there was never a gap. I loved the time when Amy had one page and then it flipped back to elder. That one page was filled with so much emotion. Amy is a great MC she is from the past yet she is the Ships future. Her story and actions are highly believable and the strength she showed incredible. Elder was a bit annoying at times, but that is because he didn’t understand and who can expect him to. In the middle of the book was when I really started to see the change in him and fell in love.

The action and suspense was highly captivating. This book isn’t geared to one gender it is balanced to both. This was the first book I read that was set on a ship and I have to say it was epic. The sequel “A million Suns” is due out in January and I can not wait! Here is a couple of my favorite quotes from the book. This book is a must read.

"This is the secret of the stars. In the end, we are alone no matter how close you seem, no one else can touch you. Maybe the secret of the stars has nothing to do with being alone."
~~~~~~~~~~
"If my life on Earth must end, let it end with a promise. Let it end with hope.
I wrap my pinkie around his. He squeezes my finger, and this world doesn't feel so cold anymore.
"Will you stay with me?" I whisper.
"Always."
