Veronica Roth's young adult Divergent trilogy launches with a captivating adventure about love and loyalty playing out under most extreme circumstances.

Review: I can't even begin to express how much I loved this book. The whole world building was done flawlessly, and the story flowed in a dystopian like no other book has. I felt my heart racing along with Tris's and I almost thought I was an initiate at times. Not to mention Four. I mean he easily could make the book on his own... Yup I went there. Veronica has crafted a story of the likes I have never read before.

I instantly loved Tris, from the very beginning her voice was strong, but laced with a need I couldn’t put my finger on until the very end. Four has just surpassed every other crush of mine in the literary world to place in my number one spot. The way he is strong but yet has this inner calm and focus is amazing. All of the minor characters also hold a special place in my heart, because they were all so diverse and yet were done so phenomenally well and work together to create a great support for the main characters.

The thing about dystopian novels is that sometimes they can start off super slowly or just plain drag because they have so much description of the new world the author is trying to create. Veronica Roth, doesn’t stop to write paragraphs on her new world. She intertwines her world building in dialogue and the thoughts of her characters. The way it is done allows the reader to jump into Tris’s shoes and become a part of this new world.

From the faction choosing ceremony to the initiation rites I was kept on my toes the whole time. The fast paced plot allowed a very intricate web to be woven, that I couldn’t hope to fully understand to the very end. When I got that last bomb shell my jaw hit the floor. The original ideas and concepts was a true work of a creative genius. I mean I never would have begun to think of anything remotely near to Fear Scapes, and now that I know what they are the thought of them makes me shudder. There is so many lines in here that make you stop and think, and I love how thought provoking a read Divergent was for me. I can not wait for the next installment, maybe I should go cryo myself so that I won’t be in so much pain until it comes out!!

  1. This really is a great book and I like what you said about Roth not stopping to explain the world, and that instead she wove in information. I've been recommending this like crazy to Hunger Games fans...I like this one better! :-)
