Entice by: Carrie Jones (Review)

Title: Entice (Need #3)
Author: Carrie Jones
Publisher: Bloomsbury
Number of Pages: 264
Date of Release: January 3rd, 2011
Summary From Goodreads:

Zara and Nick are soul mates, meant to be together forever.
But that's not quite how things have worked out.

For starters, well, Nick is dead.
Supposedly, he's been taken to a mythic place for warriors known as Valhalla, so Zara and her friends might be able to get him back. But it's taking time, and meanwhile a group of evil pixies is devastating Bedford, with more teens going missing every day. An all-out war seems imminent, and the good guys need all the warriors they can find. But how to get to Valhalla?

And even if Zara and her friends discover the way, there's that other small problem: Zara's been pixie kissed. When she finds Nick, will he even want to go with her? Especially since she hasn't just turned...she's Astley's queen.

Review: Entice had a lot to live up to after the ending of Captivate. I was really excited to get my hands on this book, but my excitement was crushed sadly. The cover is perfect for the novel and stays with the theme of the series, nice job designers!

Well, I really enjoyed Zara as a character up until this book. She fell flat, and while she claimed to be strong, she did a lot of complaining, and things that were anything but strong. I understand that she was going through a lot, but I really did not enjoy the personality she showed in this installment. Astley on the other hand is a god and I wish Zara would see that. Maybe my trust is misplaced, but I would trust him with my life. It is really cool how Carrie Jones, was able to make this connection there for me.

The plot was all over the place, while there was a clear ending that we were being led to, there was a ton of veering, that had me skimming the pages. When I say skimming, I really mean fast reading, when I really enjoy a book, my sight lingers on every sentence and sometimes, I read things twice, because the writing is just that good. I was in a rush to finish this book, because it didn’t hold my attention at all.

While this book wasn’t as good as the first two, I still like the series. Carrie was the first person to introduce me to Faeries, and I will be forever in her debt for that!

  2. I have the first three books, the first and second were good but I agree I didnt like what happened in the third book. I also didnt like the way Zara treated Astley. He treats her like a queen and she just uses him. I am sad that they changed the cover after I purchased the third one, I like the new cover better. Oh well I still cant wait till the fourth book is released. :)
